The Secret to Organising

On this site I talk about the secret to organising. It is the beginning part of the Essence of Clarity Organising system. Once you know it, it is very simple but very powerful.

So what is the secret to organising?

Over the years as a professional organiser, I wondered is there something I can distill in a simple manner that always holds true for organising and decluttering. No matter what area you are tackling or what your strengths and weaknesses in this space are.

I found out that the secret to organising:

  • Is part of a skillset and mindset

  • That organising and decluttering can be done in many ways depending on your style and personality as long as you follow a system.

  • And that it is important to develop habits and routines to maintain all your hard work

All these parts are put together for you in a worksheet, which I will unpack in my secret to organising with a number of videos.

A house organization chart titled "Start organized living now... Action sheet room by room" with columns labeled "Good," "Needs to be decluttered/organized," and "Needs serious work." The chart lists house rooms including hallway, living room, dining area, kitchen, laundry, garage, main bedroom, wardrobe, bathroom, toilet, second bedroom, office, and spare bedroom. The "Good" column is filled with a green outline, while other columns are empty. Instructions at the bottom advise to start decluttering in the least challenging spots and aim for quick wins.
A flyer titled 'Declutter & Organise' encouraging viewers to organize their space. It lists skills like declutter, clean, and organize. It questions mental habits regarding work commitments, friends and family, and mental state. It emphasizes that organizing affects all areas of life and prompts viewers to focus on one area.
Guide titled 'What is your approach?' with suggestions like 'Tick the box,' 'Visualise,' 'Positive mindset,' 'Schedule,' 'Habits and routines,' and 'Reward.' Includes spaces to indicate current organizing challenge and new approach.
An infographic titled 'The secret to being organized is using... Habits and Routines Maintenance'. It features three sections: a calendar and dumbbell icon for establishing new habits, a person on a treadmill for creating new routines, and a pause button icon with the text 'Stop regularly to rest, think or enjoy your progress.' The image has small logos at the bottom right corner.

What if you just want to get started with organising and decluttering

Included in the secret to organising is an activity to create a solid plan for you. So you know which areas in your house you should start with.
